What Happened to Free Speech in America?

Jeanine Pirro of Fox News came under heavy criticism last weekend for her remarks about Ilhan Omar, a Minnesota representative in the United States House of Congress.

Ms. Pirro made numerous good points. Yet, only one tidbit among her ten minute video editorial was picked up by other media outlets to be aired and declared as a racist rant. Pirro questioned Omar’s wearing of the hijab: “Is her adherence to this Islamic doctrine indicative of her adherence to Shariah law, which in itself is antithetical to the United States Constitution?” read more

Bill O’Reilly – Gone, Baby, Gone?

Not even close.

I am sympathetic to the cause of sexual harassment, especially as more women come forward.  However, there is a serious lack of substance present.  I do believe Mr. O’Reilly might be a victim of unfortunate timing, as the Roger Ailes situation did warrant action.  Let’s review.

Bill O’Reilly likes to push buttons, but he is an equal opportunity button pusher.  His interviewing style is designed to get a rise out of his guests, no matter race or gender, to the greater amusement of the viewing American public who keeps claiming to be tired of political correctness. read more

Sex, Politics, and Religion

The big three no-no’s, off limits, should not be discussed in the workplace.

Exceptions to this rule are in the classroom.  Professors teach courses about sex, politics, and religion, but some of these teachers don’t seem to understand the difference between venting and educating.

In a human sexuality class at Orange Coast College, a teacher expressed her opinions of the election.  She called Trump a white supremacist and stated, “Our nation is divided.  We have been assaulted.  It’s an act of terrorism. . . The people creating the assault are among us.”  Her rant was recorded by an offended student, Caleb O’Neill, who was suspended, forced to apologize, and was supposed to write a paper about why he took and shared the video, and the dangerous impact the video had.  Huh? read more
